A minor change ( reflected in the calendar at
http://www.nycinfolaw.org/calendar.php ): we'll be in room 546 of
Jerome Greene Hall, 435 W. 116th St. Bring photo ID and, if troubled
by security, ask for Reading Group in room 546. 7 p.m., Wed. Sept.
16.

Please take the following reading list as a suggestion -- you don't
_need_ to read anything, although at least skimming will probably help
the discussion considerably.

READINGS:

[If this is completely new to you, you might want to use the Notice in
the EXTRA CREDIT section as a reference]

How to Fix the Google Books Search Settlement

[Come for the "five overriding principles" listed conveniently in the
introduction; stay for the rest of the analysis if you have time after
looking over the rest of the readings]

EXTRA CREDIT:

http://www.nybooks.com/articles/22281 [Robert Darnton's article in the
New York Review of Books takes a long-form, almost literary approach
and is widely cited in the discussion. Professor Darnton will be
speaking at Columbia on the 17th in a free public event found on your
friendly NYCInfoLaw web calendar.]

what do stakeholders think?]

The Notice
http://www.googlebooksettlement.com/r/view_notice [Shorter than the
settlement. Use this for reference -- I'd not suggest reading it
cover to cover.]

In the immortal words of the previous e-mail:

> As always, food will be provided, so please RSVP to Kate Vershov,
> Columbia SLST President, if you will be coming and if you have dietary
> restrictions at yekaterina.vershov at law.columbia.edu.  Please note,
> however, that even if you don't RSVP, you are still welcome to come
> and eat.
>
> Also, after reading group is drinking group (read: going to a local
> bar), which all attendees are of course welcome to attend.
>
> We hope to see you on the 16th!
