[NYCBAR] IDENTITY THEFT, INFORMATION SECURITY & TERRORISM:
THE HIDDEN WAR ON AMERICA [$30]
OCTOBER 6, 2009 @ 12:00 PM

The Public Affairs Luncheon Series features speakers who
address matters of public interest. The luncheons provide a forum to
enable members of the Association to network, socialize and discuss
matters of interest. For more information:

DELETE: THE VIRTUE OF FORGETTING IN THE DIGITAL AGE
OCTOBER 6, 2009 @ 4:00 PM
ROOM 216, VANDERBILT HALL NYU LAW SCHOOL, 40 WASHINGTON SQUARE SOUTH
DELETE argues that in our quest for perfect digital
memories where we can store everything from recipes and family
photographs to work emails and personal information, we’ve put
ourselves in danger of losing a very human quality—the ability and
privilege of forgetting. It is becoming harder and harder to “forget”
these things as digital media becomes more accessible and portable and
the lines of ownership blur.

[NYCBAR] CLICKING "REFRESH": A NEW LOOK AT FAIR USE IN THE
DIGITAL AGE
OCTOBER 7, 2009 @ 6:30 PM
NYC BAR ASSOCIATION, 42 W. 44TH ST
This panel discussion will address the ways in which
copyright law's fair use doctrine has evolved (or may be
tested) in an era in which the rise of news aggregation,
social networking, and a variety of other websites
increasingly allow internet users to combine and transform content
from endless sources of media. Panelists will offer a broad range of
perspectives on these an other issues from the bench, bar, media
industry, and legal academy.

NYCInfoLaw began as a joint project between the Columbia Law School
Society for Law, Science and Technology and the NYU Law School InfoLaw
Student Association. Today, its membership includes similar groups
from nearly all NYC schools dedicated to the intersection between
intellectual property, technology, privacy, communications, and the
law. Our website is a compendium of news and New York City events of
interest to the members of nycinfolaw.org. If you have a calendar
item you think we should add, please contact calendar at nycinfolaw.org.
