[Typically an interesting/stimulating/occasionally infuriating
conference; I earlier forwarded it only to Columbia students but it
turns out it is free for all students and faculty- registration
required, though. As in the past couple years, there will be a
Columbia student contingent there and we'll have a backchannel.

The Kernochan Center for Law, Media and the
Arts would like to invite you to the 4th Annual Kernochan Center
Symposium:"Copyright Intermediaries: Inviting or Averting
Infringement?"
The 4th Annual Kernochan Center Symposium:
The 2009 symposium, entitled "Copyright Intermediaries: Inviting or
Averting Infringement?", will focus on the myriad of issues
surrounding secondary liability. Ninth Circuit Judge Alex Kozinski
will be our keynote speaker and, once again, we have a wonderful
series of panels lined up. The panels will discuss the evolution of
secondary liability in copyright, Section 512's merits and flaws, and
the issues raised by filtering. The event will be held at the Law
School on Friday, January 23, 2009 and CLE credit will be offered
(for more details on CLE requirements, please see below).
